Nursing research and evidence-based practice

Research about how nurses do, use and implement research: evidence-based practice, implementation science, methods and research capacity. A daily snapshot from PubMed: how much is published, on what, by whom and where. Statistics are updated on the first of each month (last: 1 November 2026); the newest free articles every day (last: 2 November 2026).

Terms used on this page

Added to PubMed
The date an article record entered PubMed. We count by this date so each article is counted once, in one month.
Free full text
PubMed links to a version you can read without paying.
Citations
How many articles in PubMed have cited this article (from NIH iCite).
RCR (Relative Citation Ratio)
An NIH measure that compares an article’s citations with others in the same field and year. 1.0 is average; above 1.0 means it is cited more than usual.
International collaboration
An article whose authors give addresses in two or more countries.
GCC
Gulf Cooperation Council: Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain.
Eastern Mediterranean Region
One of WHO’s six regions: 22 countries from Morocco to Pakistan, including Iran and the Gulf states.
How we count

Source: PubMed. Statistics are recalculated on the first day of each month (last 1 November 2026); the newest-article list and the 7-day count every day (last 2 November 2026). Counts are by the date each record was added to PubMed. Main search: (("Nursing Research"[mh] OR "Evidence-Based Nursing"[mh] OR "nursing research"[tiab] OR "evidence-based practice"[tiab] OR "research utilization"[tiab] OR "implementation science"[tiab]) AND (nurs*[tiab] OR nursing[mh])). “Free full text” uses PubMed’s free full text filter. Topics, types of AI, designs and specialties use extra search terms in the title or abstract. Countries use author addresses; the collaboration share reads every author address in each record. Journals are counted from every record in the period. Citations and RCR come from NIH iCite. The article list uses a stricter search in the title: (nurs*[ti] AND ("evidence-based"[ti] OR research[ti] OR implementation[ti] OR review[ti] OR methodolog*[ti])). Counts are approximate: the main search also catches articles that mention nurses and AI without being mainly about either, and recent months grow a little as PubMed adds records. PubMed does not cover every nursing journal (CINAHL is not free).
