Short version: we collect as little as we can, we do not use your work to train AI models, and we do not sell anything about you. The detail is below.

Who is responsible for your data
Mr Researcher is operated by Knowledge Horizon for Trading SPC (أفق المعرفة للتجارة), Commercial Registration No. 1683558, Al Amrat, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, which is responsible (the “controller”) for your personal data. We follow Oman’s Personal Data Protection Law (Royal Decree 6/2022). For anything relating to your data, write to info@mrresearcher.com. This policy covers mrresearcher.com and every Mr Researcher tool, including tools on our sub-domains (such as journal-finder.mrresearcher.com).
What we collect, and why
- Your email address, if you give it to us. Collected only when you sign up for the newsletter or a waiting list, or when you write to us. We use it to send you what you asked for or to reply, and nothing else. For the newsletter, the legal basis is your consent, confirmed by clicking the link in our confirmation email.
- Text you submit to a tool. Reference lists, manuscripts, titles, abstracts or search text you paste in. How each tool handles it is set by the tool’s data profile (next section).
- Reports and feedback you send in a tool. For example, flagging an error on a result, or sending a suggestion. We keep what you submit, the item concerned, the time and the tool version, so that a person can check it. Your submitted text is not attached, and no IP address is stored with it.
- Messages through “Write to us” or contact forms. Your e-mail address and message reach us by e-mail so that we can reply.
- Basic server logs. Our hosting provider records standard information such as page requests, approximate location and browser type, to keep the site running and secure. If you buy a paid plan, we keep the plan, amount, date and payment reference for our accounts, as the law requires. Card details are handled only by our payment provider, Tap Payments, and never reach us. Our tools’ own service logs record only the time, the type of request, the page address, the response code and how long the answer took, with no IP address and none of your text.
To keep tools available, a tool may hold your IP address in memory for a short time (for example, one minute or one hour) to count requests. It is not written anywhere.
How our tools handle your text: data profiles
Every tool’s page shows one of these profiles.
- Profile A: processed only, not stored. Your text is used only to give you the result, then discarded. It is not written to any file, database or log, and no outside AI service sees it.
- Profile B: sent to an AI provider for a specific task. Only the text needed for that task is sent to an AI provider, which processes it to return a result and does not keep it for training. The text is not stored by us. Which tools do this is set out on our How our AI works page.
- Profile C: saved to your account, if you choose. If you have an account and choose to save your work, we keep it until you delete it, which you can do at any time.
If a tool needs to handle data in any other way, its page will say so before you use it.
What we never do
- We do not use your data to train AI models. Not your searches, not your reference lists, not your manuscripts — neither our own models nor anyone else’s.
- We do not sell or rent your data. Not to publishers, not to recruiters, not to pharmaceutical companies, not to data brokers.
- We do not share your email with other organisations. Signing up to our newsletter does not put you on anyone else’s list.
Who else handles your data
To run the service, we rely on a small number of providers. Each processes data only as needed to do its job:
- Hostinger. Hosts the website, our tools (on servers in Germany) and our email. Handles server logs and anything stored on the site. Its sign-up and messaging tools (Hostinger Reach) may also run on our pages.
- MailerLite. Stores newsletter and waiting-list subscriptions and sends those emails. Their own privacy policy applies to data they hold.
- Google Fonts. Some pages of the main website load fonts from Google, which receives your IP address when the font is downloaded. Our tools use the fonts already on your device.
- Tap Payments. Processes payments for paid plans as a licensed payment provider in Oman, under its own privacy policy.
- AI providers, for specific tasks only. Only for tools with data profile B, as described above.
How long we keep things
- Email list: until you unsubscribe, which you can do from the link at the bottom of every email we send.
- Text you submit to a tool: as set by the tool’s data profile. For profiles A and B, only as long as needed to return your result.
- Reports and feedback in tools: 12 months, then deleted or kept only as anonymous counts.
- Messages to us: in our mailbox only as long as needed to answer you.
- Server logs: a short period, as part of normal hosting operations. Our tools’ service logs: 7 days.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask us what data we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can also withdraw any consent you gave, and if you are in Oman you may complain to the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology. If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you also have the right to object to processing, to ask us to restrict it, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your national data protection authority.

International transfers
We operate from Oman and our providers operate in several countries, including Germany, where our tools run. Your data may therefore be processed outside the country you live in. Where data protection law requires safeguards for those transfers, we rely on the mechanisms our providers have in place.
Cookies
Our own pages and tools use only the cookies needed for them to work, for example to keep you logged in if you have an account. Our tools set no cookies at all unless a tool’s page says otherwise; a tool may remember your settings, such as language, country or institution, in your own browser; these are never sent to us. Services embedded in some pages of the main website, such as sign-up forms, may set or read their own cookies under their own policies. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we ever add cookies that require your consent, we will ask first.
Children
This service is intended for researchers and professionals. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material here, we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects how we use data you have already given us, tell subscribers by email before it takes effect.
